We were approached by Glug Magazine, a specialized wine publication from United Kingdom, to collaborate on a cover illustration for their Mendoza edition. For each number, they seek out illustrators from the region the magazine will be themed about.
As locals, we faced the challenge of resignifying our view of the province, being aware that our thoughts could be influenced by the nuances of everyday life here. It can get tricky sometimes to find beauty on the things we are accustomed to 🥲
The way around to our compromised viewpoint as locals, was to take inspiration from the particulars of the winemaking in Mendoza and from the undeniable appeal of nature: like the magnificent mountains, the Malbec vineyards, the ever-sunny sky, the thistles and the poplars that are so charming yet so ubiquitous to us.
Our final result is a visual document of the artistry of local wine producers in its surroundings, and a homage to nature becoming both figure and background of the cover illustration.
